PVA (Polyvinyl Alcohol) is a water-soluble support filament designed for users of printers with at least two extruders. Due to its strong hygroscopic nature, it should be stored in a sealed container until use.
PVA filament, also known as polyvinyl alcohol, is a type of thermoplastic material that is perfectly suited for use as support material during the printing of complex models from other materials such as PLA, PET-G, TPU, or PA. This allows for the entire model to be printed in one go, eliminating the need for printing in parts, their assembly, or even rendering some designs impossible.
After completing the print, the model simply needs to be submerged in warm water that does not exceed the thermal deformation temperature of the filament. The time required for the supports to dissolve depends on the size of the model and the amount of PVA used, typically ranging from several minutes to several hours. Agitating the water in the container can expedite this process.
Printing with PVA is done at low temperatures, on an open system printer, without a heated bed. Due to its tendency to absorb moisture, the filament should be stored in tightly sealed packaging with a moisture absorber, away from direct sunlight, at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C, to maintain its quality for longer periods.
Recommended printing parameters:
Diameter: 1.75 mm
Net weight: 500 g
Spool weight: 245 g/250 g
The filament is vacuum packed with a moisture absorber.
Density: 1.25 g/cm³
Odor: odorless
Thermal deformation temperature: 41.5°C (HDT A according to ISO 75; 1.8 MPa; 120 K/h)
